William and Kate prepare ...
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge prepare to face the fact that they must be separated for two and a half months if the British Royal Air Force (RAF) commissioned the Prince William to the Falkland Islands, 8,000 miles from London. According to the Daily Telegraph, currently being drafted plans to send Prince William to the South Atlantic next year as a Sea King helicopter pilot from the SAR team.
The Prince will be in the islands during the commemoration the 30th anniversary of the conflict Falkland (or Malvinas in Spanish). The existence of an important member of the British royal family in the islands, especially during birthdays, probably will not like Argentina, which continues to assert territorial claims over the islands although it has lost the war in 1982.
William assignment plan that would become the longest farewell first for the couple after getting married in London on Friday last week. Sunday night, Catherine (Kate) and William spent their first night in Anglesey as married couples.
St James Palace declined to confirm where the couple, who have delayed their honeymoon, spent the weekend. Palace also declined to comment on plans to send Prince William to Falkland. However, the Telegraph, Tuesday (03/05/2011), which cites a number of sources, said that William might be sent next year.
British Ministry of Defense stated, "is not something strange" for William to spend some time there as part of their training period. Prince has indicated that he wanted to be treated as other officers in the Armed Forces, including serving in overseas operations.
He realized that his position as future king does not allow him to undergo the task on the front lines in war zones as his brother, Prince Harry, did in Afghanistan three years ago. William will be stationed at Mount Pleasant airfield on the island of East Falkland, one hour from the capital, Stanley. Base was a headquarters for a detachment to four Typhoon jet fighter and two Sea King helicopters of the SAR along with about 700 army personnel.
Because the assignment Prince will be relatively brief, he will not be allowed to bring his wife and will stay at the base. At the base entertainment center includes a movie theater, two stores, and a small cafe.
In the war of 1982, as many as 255 British soldiers and 649 Argentine soldiers, as well as three local residents, were killed. The war ended with the expulsion of Argentine forces from the territory of the islands.
